Introduction

Welcome to Cinematic Skyline! Join me, along with fellow photographers Chris and Kenny, on a captivating journey as we ascend Nike Hill to capture the beauty of a moonset against the mesmerizing backdrop of the Los Angeles skyline. We arrived at the Nike Hill trail parking lot early, eager to capture the moon setting behind the Los Angeles skyline. Knowing our time was limited, we quickly began our ascent. Carrying heavy camera gear made the climb tough, but Kenny, a former Marine, kept us motivated. “Lean forward,” he urged as we pushed uphill on the cement path. His encouragement fueled our determination, and we powered through, each step bringing us closer to the perfect shot. Have you ever tried capturing video content while walking up a steep hill? It’s not fun! But we knew the end result would be worth the effort. As we continued our climb, Kenny’s voice rang out, “We are almost there!” His words kept us going, reminding us that the breathtaking view awaiting us at the top would make all the struggle worthwhile.

Reaching our destination

Arriving at the top, we wasted no time in setting up our camera gear, eager to capture the moment before us. As the moon began its graceful descent behind the city skyline, casting a radiant glow over the landscape, a sense of awe enveloped us. In that moment, amidst the culmination of our hard work, meticulous planning, and the arduous hike to the top, we found ourselves immersed in a breathtaking spectacle that made every ounce of effort worthwhile. With each frame captured, we savored the magic of the moonset, knowing that this shared experience would be etched in our memories forever.

As the moon neared the skyline, it began to look like a giant cheese ball. The vibrant orange hues of the moon against the deep blue sky created a stunning contrast. We watched in awe as the moon slowly faded away, tucking behind the skyline and going to sleep for the day.

We uploaded photos and content documenting our success in capturing the moon set with our cameras to our instagram stories. Including the photo, you see here. Though we knew it was time to go, we couldn’t resist taking a few more epic shots of ourselves to commemorate the adventure.

Our journey back

After wrapping up, we began our descent down the hill. Conversations flowed freely, ranging from photography tips to life’s musings, as we trekked back to our cars. Before parting ways, Chris captured a film photo of Kenny and me, immortalizing the camaraderie of our adventure. With excitement bubbling in our chests and a trove of content awaiting our editing prowess, we said farewell to Nike Hill and eagerly set a course for home.
